The site is on the southwestern corner of North Cherokee
Lane and Elm Street in Lodi, as shown on the Site Vicinity Map (Plate P-1). The locations
of the ground-water monitoring wells relative to site facilities are depicted on the
Generalized Site Plan (Plate P-2). Previous work at the site by Applied GeoSystems is
+ + documented in the reports cited in the attached References list. According to Ultramar
personnel, EVAX Technologies, Inc. of San Jose, California conducted vapor extraction
remediation at the site from October 11, 1989 through November 6. 1989 and extracted and
treated over 1,400 pounds of hydrocarbons.
A geologist from Applied GeoSystems visited the site on March 19, 1990, to collect ground-
water samples from the five monitoring wells for laboratory analysis. The standard methods
used for field work are described in the attached Field Procedures. The depth to ground-
water surface was measured, and water from each monitoring well was analyzed
subjectively. The geologist noted no subjective evidence of hydrocarbon product.
a Ground water from each monitoring well was purged and sampled. The field geologist
initiated a Chain of Custody Record that accompanied the samples to the analytical
laboratory. A copy of that Chain of Custody record is attached. The purge water from
the wells was stored temporarily onsite in properly labeled, 55-gallon, 17-E steel drums
approved for that use by the Depal tment of Transportation, pending removal by Ultramar.
Mobile Chem Labs, Inc. in Lafayette, California (Hazardous Waste Testing Laboratory
Certificate No. 195), analyzed the groundwater samples for total petroleum hydrocarbons
(TPH) as gasoline by California Department of Health Services Leaning Underground
