Lodi, California.
Mr. Dembroff:
At the request of Ultramar Inc. (Ultramar, formerly Beacon Oil Company), we are
w' presenting this letter report summarizing the methods and results of the quarterly ground-
water monitoring performed by Applied GeoSystems at the subject site. The site is located
on the southwest corner of North Cherokee Lane and Elm Street in Lodi, as shown on the
Site Vicinity Map (Plate P-1). The locations of the ground-water monitoring wells and
vapor-extraction wells relative to site facilities are depicted on the Generalized Site Plan
(Plate P-2). Previous work at the site by Applied GeoSystems is documented in the reports
cited in the References.
A geologist from Applied GeoSystems visited the site on July 21, 1989, to collect ground-
water samples from the five monitc.ng wells for laboratory analysis. The depth to the
ground-water surface was measured and the water was subjectively analyzed in each
monitoring well by procedures outlined in the Field Procedures attached to this letter
report. No subjective evidence of hydrocarbon contamination was noted. Results of these
and previous subjective analyses are summarized in Table 1. Ground water from each
monitoring well was purged and sampled by procedures outlined in the Field Procedures.
The field geologist initiated a Chain of Custody Record that accompanied the samples to
the analytical laboratory. A copy of Liat record is attached to this letter report. The purge
water from the wells was temporarily stored onsite in properly labeled, 55-gallon, 17-E
steel drums approved for that use by the Department of Transportation, pending removal
by Ultraniar.
