w <br /> Job No. 00750 Page: 2 <br /> PROCEDURES <br /> A portable skid containing a vacuum pump, flowmeters, and <br /> vacuum gauges was delivered to the site. A rigid vacuum <br /> line was connected to each existing vacuum extraction well , <br /> and a volume of air was pumped from the well . The capture <br /> radius was noted by recording the vacuum in inches of water <br /> as seen in the other wells. This procedure was repeated at <br /> different flow rates and at different wells. The detection <br /> limit for the vacuum gradient was 0. 01 inches of water. <br /> Table 1 indicates the results of the testing. <br /> QUALITY ASSURANCE AND QUALITY CONTROL <br /> Teflon sealant was used on all threaded joints to prevent <br /> any vacuum loss during the pumping operation. <br /> Vacuum pump flaw rate and pressures were routinely checked <br /> against manufacturer's performance charts to insure maximum <br /> performance from the pump. <br /> A cylinder of activated carbon was connected to the <br /> effluent from the vacuum pump to prevent the emission of <br />
