Ist Quarter 1993 SVES Report, Beacon #502 Lodi
Since the inception of the program in 1991, a significant amount of contamination has
been removed from the subsurface with the program surpassing the 635 pounds extracted
mark during the 1st Quarter 1993.
The concentration of benzene to Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg)
averaged 0.2 percent for the quarter.
I The system operated 29 of a possible 29 days. This equates to an operation efficiency of
100 percent.
Benzene emission were non-detectable for the quarter. The permit conditions limit
emission discharge rates to 0.20 lb./day.
II. INDIVIDUAL MONITORING EVENTS
The following section describes how the SVES was adjusted within the performance and
compliance limits of the system during each monitoring.
11 January 1993 Monitoring:
The system operated continuously since 28 December 1992. Monitoring was performed
on extraction points. Extraction points with Total Volatile Hydrocarbons (TVIT)
concentrations of 150 parts per million volume/volume(ppmv) and greater were open to
the system vacuum.
25 January 1993 Monitoring:
The system operated continuously since 11 January 1993. Monitoring was performed on
influent, effluent, and extraction points. Extraction points with TVH concentrations of
115 ppmv and greater were open to the system vacuum..
5 February 1993 Shutdown:
' System was shutdown for confirmation borings.
2
