f WZI INC.
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This workplan is designed to conduct a soil and group iwater hydrocarbon contamination site
assessment investigation as a result of an unauthorizec.release of hydrocarbon compounds from a
single underground storage tank(UST)that was formerly located at the property owned by Mr.
Henry Hansen at 200 South Cherokee Lane, Lodi, Cal ifornia(Exhibit 1). The site is located
within the city limits of Lodi and is 30 feet east of Cherokee Lane (Exhibit 2).
The site is comprised of a single 1.2-acre parcel on w ich an automobile repair shop is located.
The property is owned by Mr. Henry Hansen, an individual who has owned the parcel for over
ten years. The site is managed by Mr. Verseput(Rig ay Properties). The site is leased to
Millennium Automotive Repair which has occupied tt a site as an automobile repair facility for
over five years.
Waste oil from automotive repairs was reportedly stored in a single-walled, 350-gallon UST that
was located south of the main building in the central portion of the property (Exhibit 2). This
tank was reportedly in service from the early-1980's utitil 1998 when it was taken out of service.
The tank was reportedly never used to store any fuels and no dispensers or dispenser piping was
observed to be present during the tank removal.
.9
The tank was removed by Jim Thorpe Oil on July 23, 199Y. Prior to removal, the tank was triple
rinsed onsite. Approximately 275 gallons of water w re removed from the tank and disposed of
as liquid hazardous waste.
No obvious holes were found in the tank according to the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services, Environmental Health Division(PHSEHD) Inspection Report dated 7/23/98.
Regulatory Agency correspondence is included as Ap endix I. Soil immediately adjacent to the
base of the tank on the east and north wall of the excavation was inspected and found to contain
hydrocarbon staining and exhibited a gasoline-likes ell.
08420010.001 1
