(Stratus) has
prepared this work plan to conduct additional subsurface assessment activities at ARCO Service
Station 6100, located at 25775 Patterson Pass Road, Tracy, California (Figure 1). In a letter
dated July 17, 2002, San Joaquin County, Environmental Health Department (SJC/EHD)
requested that a Site Conceptual Model (SCM) be prepared for this site. hi addition, SJC/EHD
requested that a work plan for additional assessment be prepared, with the scope of work based
on the SCM. The SCM was recently submitted as a separate document. hi addition, the letter
requested that removal of product from well MW-1 continue, and operation of the soil vapor
extraction system be implemented as an interim remedial option.
This work plan proposes to advance soil borings and install monitoring wells offsite to the
southeast of the ARCO facility, and to destroy of onsite vapor extraction well (VW-15). The
proposed offsite assessment activities presented in this work plan are intended to supercede the
offsite soil boring and well installation activities outlined in the May 22, 2002, Work Plan for an
Additional Subsurface Investigation prepared by Delta Environmental Consultants, Inc. (Delta).
SJC/EHD's July 17, 2002, letter also requested that free product removal from well MW-1
continue, and that the soil vapor extraction (SVE) system be utilized to reduce residual
hydrocarbon concentrations. Stratus will continue to bail free product from well MW-1 on a
weekly basis. Stratus will also prepare a separate document outlining the steps necessary to
complete installation of the SVE system, including application for a permit to construct and
operate the SVE equipment from the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District,
construction of the SVE system compound, installation of the SVE equipment, manifolding of
the existing SVE piping, and connection of the manifold to the SVE equipment.
P:\Bp-Arco for URS\6100\Work Plans\6100 workplan-l.doc
