The well is a 4-inch
diameter well constructed using schedule 40 PVC casing to a depth of 26 feet below
ground surface (bgs). The construction records show that the well has a screened interval
between 23 and 26 feet bgs.
Abandonment of this well is being proposed at ARCO's request and will be conducted
consistent with San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division standards. Well abandonment activities will be performed by a
California-licensed drilling contractor under the supervision of Pinnacle personnel. Traffic
control will be used to close the alley during the well abandonment activities and
abandonment will take approximately 2 to 3 hours to complete. The proposed
abandonment methods are presented in the following paragraph.
The well will be drilled out using 8-inch diameter hollow stem auger drilling equipment to
remove the seal, casing, and filter pack material to the total well depth of 26 bgs. Upon
completion of the drill out, the borehole will be sealed using neat cement grout placed
through a tremie pipe from the base of the borehole to within 5 feet of ground surface. The
upper 5 feet of the borehole will be backfilled with cuttings and a three inch-thick asphalt
seal will be placed over the borehole.
SAC%AAL0D1_PMT.D0C-96\mtt:1
3939 Cambridge Road,Suite 220 Cameron Park,California 95682 (530)676-6884 (530)676-6885 Fax
m
