Cherokee Lane,Lodi,California
Dear Ms. Bieber,
This letter has been prepared by URS Corporation Americas (URS), on behalf of the Atlantic Richfield
Company (ARCO- a BP affiliated company), requesting access to the property located at 230 S.
Cherokee Lane, Lodi, California, to perform a subsurface environmental investigation. Two offsite
groundwater monitoring wells have been required by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department (SJCEHD) to monitor potential groundwater petroleum hydrocarbon impacts associated
with the former ARCO gasoline station located at 225 S. Cherokee Lane, California. ARCO is
requesting your permission to allow URS and their drilling subcontractors access to the property to
perform a soil and groundwater investigation on the northwest comer of the property. The investigation
will include drilling and installing one of the two required groundwater monitoring wells. A SCDER
letter ordering the work is included in Attachment A.
The wells will be enclosed in 8.25-inch-diameter steel traffic-rated boxes mounted flush with the ground
surface. The work is expected to take approximately half a day to complete. The workplan outlining the
proposed work is included as Attachment B. The SJCEHD letter approving the workplan is included in
Attachment A. Two copies of the standard access agreement are included in Attachment C. If you agree
with the terms of the access agreement, please sign and return both copies to URS. We will forward the
agreements to ARCO for their signature, and one fully executed original will be returned to you.
