This workplan has been prepared at the request of the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department (SJCEHD) in their letter dated November 17, 2003 (Attachment A). The SJCEHD
letter requests a site assessment workplan to evaluate the extent of petroleum hydrocarbon impacts to
groundwater beneath the site. The following pages present the site background and the proposed scope
of work.
SITE BACKGROUND
The site is located at 225 South Cherokee Lane in Lodi,California(Figure 1). The site was formerly
operated as an ARCO gasoline station with an AM/PM mini-mart. The site is bounded by an alley to the
north,Lodi Avenue to the south,a residential area to the west, and Cherokee Lane to the east.As part of
divestment activities, under URS supervision, all USTs,dispensers, and associated piping were removed
during the week of August 19,2002,by K.E. Curtis Construction Company of Lathrop,California.
Analytical results from groundwater samples collected from October 2002 through July 2003,from three
on site monitoring wells identified the presence of 1,2-DCA at the site. Based on a telephone
conversation with Mr.Mark Lindseth from the City of Lodi Public Works, the City operates municipal
well#1R, 812 feet east of ARCO#760. Total depth of the well is 395 feet below ground surface(bgs)
and is screened from 150-395 feet bgs.
K:\Wprocess\J5 BP ARCO\00760\2004 Assessment\760 GW Workplan 04.doc
