April 7, 1992
ARCO Service Station No. 760, Lodi, California
Authorization To Dispose of Stockpiled Soil
At ARCO's request, soil piles 1, 5, and 6 and the drill cuttings were transported under the
direction of Golden West to private land at the corner of Hibbard and Tokay Colony Road
in Lodi, California. Soil piles 9, 10, and 11 were transported by Dillard Trucking of Byron,
California, to the Brown and Fems Inc Class II in Livermore, California, on July 25, 1991
DISCUSSION
t
Soil samples collected during this investigation are shown on Plate 6 titled Residual
Hydrocarbons Remaining in Soil Solid circleg represent samples in which laboratory
analyses detected hydrocarbons above detection limits Tnan les represent samples in which
residual hydrocarbons were not detected tnang es epresent excavated samples and
` open triangles represent samples collected from soil borings from 5 to 21 feet below surface
grade
In the former gasoline tank cavity, residual TPHg remains in the soil at approximately 13
feet below grade at concentrations up to 250 ppm, BTEX concentrations were detected at
concentrations of 5 4,7 0,3 2,and 18 ppm, respectively Hydrocarbons were not detected
in soil samples collected from borings B-5 and B-9 west of the former gasoline tank cavity
Sidewall samples north of the former gasoline cavity contained BTEX compounds at
concentrations below 1 0 ppm, however, residual hydrocarbons were not detected in soil
samples collected from boring B-4 also to the north of the former tank cavity
Hydrocarbons were not detected in soil samples collected from boring B-6 west of the
former cavity Hydrocarbons remain in soil at the south end of the former tank cavity
38048-5 16
i
