urtk <br /> lEmcon1433 North Market Boulevard • Sacramento California 95834-1943 • (916)928-3 • Fax(91 <br /> 'UL� U <br /> July 28, W51 199 <br /> Pi f p�j0805-142 93 <br /> �' Mir"S Rv 4v� l <br /> Mr Kyle Christie <br /> ARCO Products Company <br /> 2155 South Bascom, Suite 202 <br /> Campbell, California 95008 <br /> Re Second Quarter 1995 Status Report for ARCO Service Station No 760 at <br /> 225 South Cherokee Lane, Lodi, California <br /> Dear Mr Christie <br /> At the request of ARCO Products Company (ARCO), EMCON is conducting an <br /> environmental investigation at the subject site (see Figure 1) We have prepared this status <br /> report based on the work conducted during the second quarter 1995, which included <br /> measuring depth to groundwater, collecting groundwater samples from the wells for subjective <br /> and laboratory analyses, and calculating the groundwater gradient and direction of <br /> groundwater flow beneath the site <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> t <br /> In September 1988, RESNA Industries ([RESNA] formerly Applied GeoSystems) observed <br /> removal of an underground waste oil storage tank located to the east of the station building In <br /> June and July 1991, RESNA observed removal of three gasoline storage tanks and associated <br /> product piping and two additional waste oil tanks Analytical results indicated hydrocarbons <br /> were present at the limits of the tormer underground gasoline tank and waste oil tank cavities <br /> (RESNA, June 25, 1991, Report 38048-4) <br /> Between May 1990 and January 1994, RESNA investigated the impact of hydrocarbons to <br /> soil beneath and just north of the site and the impact to groundwater beneath the site A <br /> total of 22 soil borings were drilled on site and 2 soil borings were drilled off site, <br /> 3 monitoring wells, 10 vapor extraction wells, and I off-site vapor extraction well were <br /> installed at the site Boring locations and well locations are presented on Figure 2 <br /> Residual gasoline and diesel hydrocarbons were detected in soil beneath the site (RESNA, <br /> January 7, 1993, Report 38048-7, and RESNA, June 8, 1994, Report 38048-11) <br /> Dissolved hydrocarbons as gasoline were detected at relatively low concentrations in all <br /> monitoring wells However, dissolved hydrocarbons as diesel and oil and grease were <br /> below laboratory detection limits <br /> A vapor extraction test was conducted on .Pune 14, 1991, results indicated that vapor <br /> extraction is a feasible method of remediating soil at the site An effective radius of <br /> influence of 22 feet was estimated for the site (RESNA, April 7, 1992, Report 38048-5) <br /> SACIN TIM80M8051420 3BL 95 PAS 33 <br />
