Uton Associates <br /> 1433 North Market Boulevard •Sacramento California 95834-1943 • (916)928-3300• Fox(916)928-3341 <br /> April 27, 1995 <br /> Project 0805-142 003 <br /> Mr Kyle Christie <br /> ARCO Products Company <br /> 2155 South Bascom, Suite 202 <br /> Campbell, California 95008 <br /> Re First Quarter 1995 Status Report for ARCO Service Station No 760 at 225 South <br /> Cherokee Lane, Lodi, California <br /> Dear Mr Chnstie <br /> At the request of ARCO Products Company (ARCO), EMCON is conducting an <br /> environmental investigation at the subject site (see Figure 1) We have prepared this status <br /> report based on the work conducted during the first quarter 1995, which included measuring <br /> depth to groundwater, collecting groundwater samples from the wells for subjective and <br /> laboratory analyses, and calculating the groundwater gradient and direction of groundwater <br /> flow beneath the site <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> In September 1988, RESNA Industries ([RESNA] formerly Applied GeoSystems) observed <br /> removal of an underground waste oil storage tank located to the east of the station building In <br /> June and July 1991, RESNA observed removal of three gasoline storage tanks and associated <br /> product piping and two additional waste oil tanks Analytical results indicated hydrocarbons <br /> were present at the limits of the former underground gasoline tank and waste oil tank cavities <br /> (RESNA,June 25, 1991, Report 38048-4) <br /> Between May 1990 and January 1994, RESNA investigated the impact of hydrocarbons to <br /> soil beneath and just north of the site and dissolved hydrocarbons beneath the site A total <br /> of 22 soil borings were drilled on site and 2 soil borings were drilled off site, 3 monitoring <br /> wells, 10 vapor extraction wells, and 1 off-site vapor extraction well were installed at the <br /> site Boring locations and well locations are presented in Figure 2 Residual gasoline and <br /> diesel hydrocarbons were detected in soil beneath the site (RESNA, January 7, 1993, <br /> Report 38048-7 and RESNA, June 8, 1994, Report 38048-11) Dissolved hydrocarbons <br /> as gasoline were detected in aD monitoring wells However, dissolved hydrocarbons as <br /> diesel and oil and grease were below laboratory detection limits <br /> A vapor extraction test was conducted on June 14, 1991; results indicated that vapor <br /> extraction is a feasible method of remediating soil at the site An effective radius of <br /> influence of 22 feet was estimated for the site (RESNA, April 7, 1992, Report 38048-5) <br /> SAON IPJ010805108051420 3AL-941drm 1 <br />
