Working to Restore Nature <br /> 3164 Cold Camp Drive, Suite 200 <br /> Rancho Cordova, CA 95670 <br /> Phone (916)852-6690 <br /> Fax (916)852-6688 <br /> December 8, 1993 <br /> Mr. Chuck Carmel <br /> ARCO Products Company <br /> P O Box 5811 <br /> San Mateo, California 94402 <br /> Subject Addendum to Work Plan for Investigation at and Adjacent to ARCO Service <br /> Station No 760, 225 South Cherokee Lane, Lodi, California <br /> Mr. Carmel: <br /> At the request of ARCO Products Company (ARCO), RESNA Industries (RESNA, <br /> formerly Applied GeoSystems) is presenting this addendum to our Work Plan No 38048- <br /> 3W, dated April 23, 1990, for additional work at the subject site The purpose of the <br /> additional work is to further evaluate the extent of hydrocarbons in soil and to evaluate <br /> groundwater beneath the site The site location is shown on the Site Vicinity Map, Plate <br /> 1 <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> In September 1988, Applied Geosystems observed removal of an underground storage tank <br /> located to the east of the station building Applied GeoSystems collected soil samples under <br /> the tank according to the San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health <br /> Division (SJCPHS-EHD), guidelines Information provided by personnel of ARCO <br /> indicated that the 550-gallon tank was used to store waste oil In June and July 1991, <br /> RESNA observed removal of three gasoline-storage tanks and associated product piping and <br /> two waste-oil tanks Analytical results indicated hydrocarbons were present at the limits of <br /> the former underground gasoline tank and waste-oil tank cavities (RESNA, Report No. <br /> 38048-4, June 25, 1991) <br /> Between May 1990 and July 1992, RESNA investigated the impact of hydrocarbons to soil <br /> beneath and just north of the site Residual gasoline and diesel hydrocarbons were detected <br /> in soil beneath the site (RESNA, January 7, 1993, Report No 38048-7) <br /> 0913cear <br /> 38048-10 <br />
