1 <br /> r <br /> r 4 SCOPE OF INVESTIGATIONS <br /> r4.1 Assessment of Soil <br />' Field work conducted during the UST removal and site assessment programs were <br /> performed following the procedures summarized in Appendix A of this report and in <br /> accordance with the RWQCB, Appendix A of the "Tri-Regional Board Staff <br /> Recommendations for Preliminary Evaluation and Investigation of Underground Tank <br /> Sites, and The Leaking Underground Fuel Tank Manual " <br /> r4.1 1 Tank and Product Line Replacement <br />' On September 7, 1988, Applied GeoSystems observed Tom Mehnnger Construction of <br /> Red Bluff, California, remove one waste-oil tank (T10) (Applied GeoSystems, <br /> November 29, 1988, Report No 38048-4) <br /> During June 1991, RESNA Industries, Inc (RESNA [formerly Applied GeoSystems), <br /> observed Golden West of Brentwood, California, remove three gasoline USTs (TI, T2, and <br /> T3), associated underground product-delivery lines, and one waste-oil tank (T8) from the site <br /> (RESNA, Aprd 7, 1992, Report No 38048-5) <br /> The tank cavity was excavated to approximately 13 feet below ground surface (bgs) RESNA <br /> collet ted soil samples from the limits of the excavation at locations shown on Figure 2 Four <br /> 10,000-gallon, double-walled fiberglass tanks were installed east of the former tank complex <br /> (T4, T5, T6, and 77) Six 12-inch-diameter conductor pipes were installed between the new <br /> tanks to allow for future exploratory access beneath the USTs, if warranted <br /> RESNA Lollei,ted soil samples from the product line trenLhes at locations shown on <br /> Figure 2 Samples were collected at approximately 3 feet bgs <br />' In July 1991, RESNA observed the removal of one waste-oil tank (T9) and the vent lutes <br /> No subjective evidence of petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in the soil removed from <br /> the vent line trenches No soil samples were collected pursuant to verbal approval by the <br /> SJCPHS <br /> SA('\N TKNO905\08051420 4BS 97\prz 1 Rev 0 3/12197 <br /> 20805-142 004 4-1 <br /> 1 <br />
