L %100
L SITE CHARACTERIZATION
CHEROKEE SERVICE CENTER
L 303 SOUTH CHEROKEE LANE
LODI, CALIFORNIA
L
1.0 INTRODUCTION
LThis site characterization was performed to assess subsurface soil containing petroleum
product constituents (PPC) at the former Cherokee Service Center facility in Lodi,
California. The presumed source of the PPCs was a release(s) from underground storage
1, tanks(USTs),fuel dispensers, and/or fuel delivery plumbing which had been maintained on
the site until April, 1994.
LThis work was performed by the Environmental Services,Drilling,and Chemical Laboratory
Divisions of The Twining Laboratories, Inc.-(Twining), located in Fresno, California. W.
L Lloyd Gums (owner of the property at 303 South Cherokee Lane, Lodi, California),
commissioned T wining's services in a contract (C-194-0197) dated October 10, 1994 and an
"Authorization to Proceed" letter (TLP 3794-445A) dated September 5, 1995. Mr. Gums
` can be contacted by telephone at (209) 368-8080.
This work was carried out to satisfy a directive from the San Joaquin County Public Health
L Serives (SJCPHS) to "investigate the extent`of the contamination at the site", made in a
letter dated June 15, 1994.
L2.0 PURPOSE AND SCOPE
LThe purpose of this work was to characterize soils containing PPCs in the vicinity of the
northwestern dispenser island;to collect and analyze confirmation soil samples in the former
UST locations; and to assess the presence (or absence) of PPCs adjacent to the
Lsouthwestern dispenser island. The following tasks were performed to achieve the before
stated objectives:
L • Six soil borings were drilled in the former UST locations and soil samples were
collected for chemical analysis;
L0 Three soil borings were drilled in the vicinity of the northwestern dispenser island
and soil samples were collected for chemical analysis;
L • Three soil borings were drilled adjacent to the southwestern dispenser island and soil
samples were collected for chemical analysis;
L
L
