A 550-gallon used oil tank was removed from the site in June, 1987
and three product USTs (2 each of 8,500 gallons and one of 10,000 gallons) were removed
Lfrom the site in August 1988. In a letter dated February 3, 1994, the SJCPHS stated that
the soil samples collected from beneath the 8,500 and 10,000-gallon USTs were insufficient
and/or the method used for analysis was inappropriate to "confirm either that the site is
clean or contaminated". Furthermore the product delivery plumbing from the USTs to the
dispensers had not been removed so the tank closure was incomplete. The SJCPHS
L directed the removal of the product delivery plumbing and the resampling of the former
USTs' excavation.
In April, 1994 the product delivery plumbing associated with the USTs and fuel dispensers
was removed. Soil samples were collected from various locations in the product delivery
plumbing excavations. Soil samples were analyzed for PPCs by Argon Mobile Labs of
L Ceres, California. Drawing 2 shows the approximate locations of these soil samples. A
summary of analytical results of these soil samples is presented in Table 1.
L
L
L
L
L
L
L
L
