Descriptions of the conditions
encountered in the soil borings are presented in the logs of soil borings (Appendix Q.
L The foregoing is a general summary of the subsurface conditions encountered in the soil
borings drilled for this investigation. Stratification lines on the soil boring logs represent
approximate boundaries between soil types. Actual transitions between soil types may be
gradual, and the interpretation of various soil types from soil cuttings is subjective.
4
5.2 Results of P1eld Screening It has been Twining's experience while field screening
soil samples with a PID that readings registering volatile organic compound concentrations
of less than 100 parts per million (ppm) are not usually indicative of laboratory detectable
quantities of PPCs in the soil. The readings of soil samples collected from the soil borings
L B-1, B-2, B-3, B-4, B-5, B-6, B-7, B-9, HA-7, HA-8 and HA-10 drilled for this work did not
register PID readings greater than 100 ppm. The soil sample collected at approximately 15
feet BSG from soil boring B-8 registered a PID reading of 113.5 ppm while the remaining
samples collected from this soil boring did not register PID readings above 100 ppm.
53 Soil Sample Analytical Results: A summary of soil sample analytical results for soil
samples collected in the soil borings drilled during this investigation are presented in Table
L 3. Laboratory analysis reports and chain-of-custody documentation are presented in
Appendix D.
L
L
L
