Gums
Mr. Lloyd A91701.0IB
January 15, 1996 Page 12
• PPCs were not detected in the three soil samples collected adjacent to the
southwestern dispenser island at a depth of approximately 5 feet BSG;
• Additional investigative work is needed to delimit the extent of PPC migration gration on the
L north side of and beneath the northwestern dispenser island and to assess the
potential for the soil containing PPCs to impact groundwater; and
L Soil cuttings and decontamination rinsate from soil boring B-1 may contain
concentrations of TPH-D.
L8.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
U • Copies of this report should be forwarded to SJCPHS for review and comment.
• A work plan should be formulated and implemented to delimit the extent of PPC
migration in soil on the north side of and beneath the northwestern dispenser island.
Furthermore, the potential for PPCs to have impacted the groundwater should also
be assessed. In the interest of saving time and money, consideration should be given
L to combining this additional assessment work plan with a soil remediation plan to
cleanup the soil containing PPCs;
i Y • Soil cuttings and decontamination rinsate originating from soil boring B-1 should.be
` assessed for TPH-D before disposal. In as much as additional assessment and/or soil
remediation work will be undertaken, approval may be requested from the SJCPHS
to defer the disposal of these materials until completion of the additional work. Soil
L cuttings and decontamination rinsate originating from the other soil borings may be.
disposed of by an appropriate method.
} 9.0 LIMITATIONS
` Finding and recommendations presented in this report are based on the assumption that
Po P
_ subsurface conditions and chemical concentrations do not deviate from those disclosed in
the field and laboratory testing. If variations from these findings are found, Twining should
be notified so that supplemental conclusions and recommendations may be provided.
The purpose of a geologic/hydrogeologic study is to reasonably characterize existing site
conditions based on the geology/hydrogeology of the area. In performing such a study, it
L is understood that a balance must be struck between a reasonable inquiry into the site
conditions and an exhaustive analysis of each conceivable environmental characteristic. No
investigation is thorough enough to describe all geologic/hydrogeologic conditions of interest
Lat agiven site.
Environmental conditions may exist at the site that cannot be identified by visual
