r
• Kayo Status Report Page 8
July 22, 1987
proposes to sell this station. The underground tanks have been
removed and the tank pit backfilled with clean pea-gravel .
A groundwater recovery well and groundwater treatment system has
been installed. The system has been operating since April 20,
1987. The pumping rate is set very low (approximately 300
gallons per day) in order to meet the air emissions limit . The
aquifer is very low yielding, however, and a higher pumping rate
would probably not be appropriate . Air stripper influent and
effluent monitoring is being conducted twice each month as
required by the Sacramento County Air Pollution Control
District. Reporting is on a quarterly basis .
Groundwater Technology, Inc. has been contracted to conduct a
pump test and assess the effectiveness of the recovery system
and air stripper. The pump test was conducted on April 20 and
22. They will make recommendations for system improvement after
they complete their testing.
Fast Gas
6101 Watt Avenue
North Highlands, CA
Env. Assessment Consultant: Beta Associates
Remediation Consultant: Groundwater Technology, Inc.
This station is closed and will not be reopened by Kayo. Kayo
leases this property and plans to return the property to the
owner.
The subsurface site investigation work has found only soil
contamination at this site. The groundwater is normally at 100
feet below ground surface in this area .
Groundwater Technology, Inc. has been contracted to prepare a
remediation plan employing soil venting. Their proposal was
submitted on May 27, 1987. The initial soil venting tests were
conducted on July 8, 1987. They indicated that soil venting
will be an effective way of remediating the contaminated soil .
Kayo is presently waiting for Groundwater Technology's proposal
for full scale implementation of the plan.
Douglas Station
900 South Cherokee Lane
Lodi, CA
Env.
