(Delta), has been authorized by Ultramar Inc. (Ultramar), to
conduct an investigation of the ground water beneath and adjacerI to Beacon Station No.695 located
at 940 South Cherokee Lane,San Joaquin County,Lodi,California. The location of the site is shown
in Figure 1. The purpose of this investigation is to monitor the ground water levels and the extent and
distribution of petroleum hydrocarbon constituents in the ground water beneath the site. This letter
report contains the results of the quarterly ground water monitoring and sampling performed at the site.
Ground water levels were measured and ground water samples were collected for analysis:jn June 19
and 28,1991. Field work conducted at the site by Delta was performed in accordance with the field
methods and procedures described in Enclose: ;A.
A total of 23 wells are present at the site and ground water was measured in monitoring wells MW-16,
MW-18,MW-20, MW-21,MW-24,MW-25,MW-27 and recovery well RW-1,in June 1991 (fable 1).
Ground water was not present in the remaining monitoring wells at the site.
een approximately 65 and 69 feet below the surface during
Ground water was present at the site betw
the site visits in June 1991. Ground water elevation contours based on the June 19, 1991,data are
illustrated in Figure 2. These contours indicate the inferred ground water flow direction is toward the
southeast(Figure 2),with an average hydraulic gradient of approximately 0.007-foot per foot. Ground
water level data collected from each monitoring well at the site since January 1938 is presented in
Enclosure D.
Ground water samples collected on June 19 and 28, 19-01,were submitted to a California-certified
laboratory to determine the concentration of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes(BTEX)and
-- -- ... -
total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as gasoline using U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and
Departmento.f Health-Services approved met hods:-A summary of these groundwater.sample.analytical
results is presented in Table 2. A dissolved benzene concentration map based on the June 1991 ground
water sample analytical results is illustrated in Figure 4. A summary of previous groundwater.analytical
results, including June 1991, is presented in Enclosure C Copies of the field sampling information
sheets are presented in Eir.losure D.
