Delta <br /> Rancho Cordova CA 95670 <br /> Environmental 9161838-2085 <br /> Consultants,Inc FAX 9161638-8385 <br /> May 21, 1996 <br /> Mr Kenneth Earnest <br /> Ultramar Inc <br /> 525 West Third Street <br /> Hanford, California 93230 <br /> i <br /> Subject Soil Borings Results Report <br /> Fortner Beacon Station No 695 <br /> 900 South Cherokee Lane <br /> Lodi, California <br /> Delta Project No D093-915 <br /> i <br /> Dear Mr Earnest <br /> Delta Environmental Consultants, Inc (Delta), was authorized by Ultramar Inc (Ultramar) to assess <br /> the progress of the soil remediation by vapor extraction at Former Beacon Station No 695, located <br /> at 900 South Cherokee Lane, Lodi, San Joaquin County, California The assessment consisted of <br /> drilling six soil borings This report describes the work performed and presents the results of soil <br /> sample analyses The location of the site is shown in Figure 1, and site features are illustrated in <br /> Figure 2 All work was performed according to the field methods and procedures in Enclosure A <br /> Site Background Information <br /> The site has been operated as a gasoline service station since the early 1940's Ultramar purchased <br /> the property in 1989 and began operating the site as a Beacon gasoline service station Investigations <br /> of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil and ground water at the site began in 1985 A total of 27 ground <br /> water monitoring wells, recovery wells, and/or soil vapor extraction wells had been installed at the <br /> site prior to the current investigation <br /> There were four underground fuel storage tanks in use while the site was operated as a Beacon station <br /> by Ultramar The tanks were used to store regular unleaded, unleaded plus, supreme unleaded <br /> gasoline, and diesel fuel During removal of the four tanks in January 1994 additional product <br /> distribution pipes and eleven additional underground storage tanks were discovered These tanks <br /> were apparently used by previous owners of the site and their existence was unknown to Ultramar <br /> The fifteen tanks at the site were removed in January 1994 Removal of the underground tanks is <br /> described in a Delta report entitled Underground Storage Tank Removal and Soil Sampling, dated <br /> March 18, 1994 Further research into the history of the site has been presented in a Delta report <br /> entitled Review of Historic Aerial Photographs and Maps, dated March 22, 1994 Additional ground <br /> water monitoring wells and soil vapor extraction wells were installed by Delta during replacement <br /> of the underground tanks and distribution piping in February-March 1994, results are included in <br /> Delta's report entitled, Well Installation Report, dated May 10, 1994 Ultramar sold the property <br /> in February 1994, the new owners have re-opened the site as a Texaco station <br /> Providing a Competitive Edge <br />
