APR 19 1996 <br /> 3164 Gold Camp drive <br /> Delta Suite 200 <br /> Rancho Cordova CA 95670 <br /> 1/ Environmental 916/638 2085 <br /> Consultants,Inc FAX 916/638 8385 <br /> April 16, 1996 <br /> Mr Kenneth Earnest <br /> Ultramar Inc <br /> 525 West Third Street <br /> Hanford, California 93230 <br /> Subject Quarterly Soil Vapor Extraction Report, December 6, 1995 through February 20, 1996 <br /> Beacon Station No 695 <br /> 900 South Cherokee Lane <br /> Lodi, California <br /> Delta Project No D093-915 <br /> Dear Mr Earnest <br /> Delta Environmental Consultants, Inc (Delta), has been authorized by Ultramar Inc (Ultramar) to <br /> report operation and maintenance data for the soil vapor extraction (SVE) system located at the <br /> above-referenced site(Figures 1 and 2) This report presents operation and maintenance data for the <br /> SVE system reporting period of December 6, 1995 through February 20, 1996 All system operation <br /> data has been provided to Delta by Ultramar and Western States Instrumentation Western States <br /> Instrumentation(Western) currently provides the SVE system operation and maintenance service for <br /> Ultramar at the subject site <br /> Petroleum vapors in the soil are vented through 12 nested SVE wells(VEW-1 through VEW-12), two <br /> recovery wells (RW-1 and RW-2), and 16 monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-3, MW-4, MW-6, MW-8 <br /> through MW-10, MW-15 through MW-17, MW-22, and MW-26 through MW-30) Figure 2 <br /> presents the locations of the SVE wells The soil vapors are abated by a 500 cubic feet per minute <br /> EVAX catalytic oxidizer prior to atmospheric discharge Figure 3 presents the location of the <br /> remediation system <br /> During the reporting period, system operation and maintenance site visits were performed by Western <br /> on December 6 and 20, 1995, January 4 and 17, and February 6 and 20, 1996 During this period, <br /> the SVE system had operated for approximately 1,028 hours (-43 days) out of 1,824 hours <br /> (--76 days) Table 1 presents the cumulative hours of system operation through February 20, 1996 <br /> Based on field instrument readings, it is estimated that 537 pounds (lbs ) (88 gallons) of vapor <br /> equivalent gasoline were removed from soil underlying the site during the reporting period As of <br /> February 20, 1996, the SVE system had extracted approximately 48,641 lbs (7,974 gallons) of <br /> vapor equivalent gasoline from soil underlying the site In an effort to verify field instrument <br /> readings, influent and effluent soil vapor samples were collected on December 6, 1995 and <br /> January 4 and 17, 1996 The samples were submitted to Western Environmental Science and <br /> Technology (a California-certified laboratory) for analysis of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total <br /> xylenes, (BTEX) and total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as gasoline Table 1 presents the benzene <br /> and TPH as gasoline analytical results and a summary of petroleum hydrocarbon extraction and <br /> Providing a Competitive Edge 1 <br />
