This report presents operation and maintenance data for the
SVE system reporting period of September 20,through December 6, 1995. All system operation data
has been provided to Delta by Ultramar and Western States Instrumentation Western States
Instrumentation(Western) currently provides the SVE system operation and maintenance service for
Ultramar at the subject site
Petroleum vapors in the soil are vented through 12 nested SVE wells(VEW-1 through VEW-12),two
recovery wells (RW-1 and RW-2), and 16 monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-3, MW-4, MW-6, MW-8
through MW-10, MW-15 through MW-17, MW-22, and MW-26 through MW-30) Figure 2
presents the locations of the SVE wells. Figure 3 presents the location of the remediation system
During the reporting period, system operation and maintenance site visits were performed by Western
on October 4, and 18, November 3, and 20, and December 6, 1995. During this period, the SVE
system had operated for approximately 1,845 hours (--77 days) out of 1,848 hours (-77 days)
Table 1 presents the cumulative hours of system operation through December 6, 1995
Based on field instrument readings, it is estimated that 2,915 pounds (lbs ) (478 gallons) of vapor
equivalent gasoline were removed from soil underlying the site during the reporting period As of
December 6, 1995, the SVE system had extracted approximately 48,104 lbs (7,796 gallons) of
vapor equivalent gasoline from soil underlying the site. In an effort to verify field instrument
readings, influent and effluent soil vapor samples were collected on October 18 and
November 20, 1995, and submitted to Western Environmental Science and Technology
(a California-certified laboratory) for analysis of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes,
(BTEK)and total petroleum hydrocarbons(I'PH) as gasoline. Table 1 presents the benzene and TPR
as gasoline analytical results and a summary of petroleum hydrocarbon extraction and emission rates.
Example TPH as gasoline extraction and emission rate calculations are included in Enclosure A.
Copies of the analytical reports are included in Enclosure B.
Providing a Competitive Edge
