Cherokee Lane
Lodi , California 95240
Subject. Proposed Supplemental Exploration
and Request for PAR Extension
Douglas Gas Station
900 South Cherokee Lane
Lodi , California
Dear Paul
After reviewing the laboratory analytical data for the soil and water samples
collected from the above-referenced site during the last phase of the
subsurface exploration, we feel that the "zero line" has not been adequately
defined in a few areas. Attached are Tables A and $ which summarize the
analytical results for both soil and ground-water samples. The attached
Figures 1 through 4 show the lateral extent and concentrations (TPH-as
gasoline) in soil (at three depth intervals) and water. Figures 1, 2 and 3
. show that soil analytical data is needed in the area west of the office
building and in the immediate vicinity of the gasoline pump islands. Figure 4
shows that the "zero line" for ground water needs to be more fully defined
north of the site. As a result , we recommend the additional installation of
two ground-water monitoring wells on the adjacent property to the north of the
Douglas Gas Station site and three soil borings in the western portion of the
site. Our proposed locations for the monitoring wells and soil borings are
shown on the attached Site Plan, Figure 5. The proposed monitoring well
locations have been field checked for accessability by Kayo Oil Company
personnel .
It seems premature at this point to issue the Problem Assessment Report for the
Douglas Gas Station site until the "zero line" of gasoline contamination has
been more fully defined. This would necessitate a 60-day extension for the
report deadline to allow time for obtaining permission from property owner(s)
to install the monitoring wells, permitting, drilling, developing and sampling
the wells, and laboratory analysis of soil and water samples.
Respectfully submitted,
ALPHA GEOTECHNICAL CONSULTANTS, INC.
Darrell S.
