APPENDIX BRISK BASED CORRECTIVE ACTION TIER 1 AND TIER 2 ANALYSIS
STT)E CLOSURE EVALUATION REPORT
Former Beacon Station No 695
900 South Cherokee Lane
Lodi, California
Delta Project No D093-915
Page 8
removed from the site For disposal purposes, one composite sample per 50 cubic yards was collected
and submitted for chemical analysis. Based on the laboratory analyses of the composite samples, it is
estimated that approximately 2,122 pounds (345 gallons) of gasoline and 13,949 pounds (2,051 gallons)
of diesel were removed during the UST and product line replacement activities Appendix B contains
the methodology for estimating mass and volume of petroleum hydrocarbons removed as a result of the
UST and product tine removal
4.3 Soil Vapor Extraction
In July 1991, EVAX Technologies, Inc installed and began operation of a SVE system. The system
consisted of 23 vapor extraction and monitoring wells (VP-1 through VP-6, MW-1 through MW-10,
MW-15, MW-16, MW-17, MW-22, MW-26, MW-27, and RW-1) Each monitoring well was connected
to a common manifold in the remediation system area Soul vapor was drawn through an air/water
separator and a particulate filter by a 500 cubic feet per mmute vacuum blower The soil vapor was then
directed to a catalytic oxidizer where entrained petroleum hydrocarbons were abated by a catalytic
oxidizer The SVE system was operated by EVAX until January 1993, when operation was assumed by
Remediation Risk Management, Inc (RRM) RRM operated the system in the same vapor extraction and
monitoring well configuration until April 1993, when operation and maintenance activities were
transferred to Delta Operational data tables including vapor equivalent gasoline removal by RRM
through April 1993 are included in Appendix C
Delta operated the SVE system utilizing the same well configuration until January 1994, when tank
removal activities caused the system to be shut down In February 1994, 11 borings were completed as
nested vapor extraction wells and were manifolded to the existing catalytic oxidizer In April 1994, the
SVE system was restarted using 12 nested SVE wells (VEW-1 through VEW-12), two recovery wells
(RW-1 and RW-2), and 16 monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-4, MW-6, MW-8 through MW-10,
MW-15 through MW-17, MW-22, and MW-27 through MW-30) and operated by Delta until
March 1996 Western States Instrumentation(Western)assumed field operation of the system while Delta
continued operation and maintenance oversight In February 1996, the system was turned off as the
RPT001 915
