MURRAY & ASSOCIATES
 ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
July 17, 1991
J U L 1 & IPP,
ENVRONtIrAEh1'fAL ti` !,A +.1
Harlen Knoll PERM IT/SERviCES
#` San Joaquin County Health Department
Environmental Health Division
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Dear Mr. Knoll:
Re: Qufirteriy Sampling Report, Groundwater ]Monitoring Wells - Stan A'Morri Ford
Dealership - Tracy, California
Murray & Associates is forwarding for your review and consideration the following
f analytical results stemming from the last (Summer, 1991) round of waicr sampling at the
Stan Morri .Ford Dealership, 104 West 11th Street, Tracy, California. The low
concentration of the purgeable halocarbpn contamination present in:the groundwater
appears to be relatively steady. The persistent presence of traces of these compounds in
MW-2, the up-gradient well, after a period of one year leads me to suspect that the source
of this contamination may be coming from off-site. No volatile aromatic compounds
4 (BTRE) were in the groundwater at the site indicating that no contamination from the
waste oil tank excavation is reaching the groundwater. Shallow groundwater at the site is
staying at a depth of approximately 11 to 12 feet below the asphalt-covered surface of the
Ford Dealership. Regional groundwater flow direction is still generally to the northeast.
All apparatus for groundwater sampling was brought to the site clean and in serviceable
condition. Following the purging and sampling of each subsequent well, all equipment was
steam-cleaned and washed in a solution of liquinox organic cleaner, rinsed in deionized
water and allowed to.air dry.
Groundwater sampling protocols call for the evacuation of a sufficient volE'me of water
from the well to insure that the sample is coliecttd from water that has been'newly drawn
into the well from the surrounding geologic formation. This effluent water is currently 3
stored on-site in new DOT 17 E drums.
2252 Fort Point Drive, Gold River, CA 95670
(916)635.0839 FAX(916)852-1411
;i
if
