i Messrs Trommer and La 19 June 2008
Preliminary Five-Year Review Letters
Various Sites Page 6 of 7
1419 Charter Way, E.
• The CUF concurred with the EHD directive to expand the ozone sparging system
to remediate impacted groundwater.
15 Grantline Road, E.
• The CUF agreed with the EHD directive to define the extent of contamination
west of the site.
4100 Fremont Street, E.
• The CUF recommended site closure consideration; the EHD does not agree at
this time. The site is approaching a point of closure consideration, but the
contaminant 1,2-DCA has not been delineated toward the southwest. Recently
acquired grab groundwater sample data toward the southwest was generally
favorable, but 800 ppb TPH-g was detected at 65 to 75 feet bsg in P-15; soil gas
results were favorable. A report of findings is in preparation; after receipt and
review of the data analysis, the EHD will determine if closure consideration is
appropriate.
355 Enterprise
• The CUF recommended site closure consideration; the EHD agrees.
106 Second Avenue
• The CUF has recommended site closure consideration; the EHD agrees with this
recommendation. The results of a recent soil gas investigation are in review, if
favorable, the site will likely be recommended for closure.
932 Highway 99, S.
• The CUF has recommended site closure consideration, the EHD does not agree
at this time. The site groundwater data has been generally favorable, but the
EHD notes that confirmation borings advanced in 2003 encountered impacted
soil at 20 feet bsg; depth to water has recently been approximately 29 feet bsg.
The EHD is concerned with the potential for impact to groundwater under rising
groundwater elevation conditions. The EHD will direct additional confirmation
borings to evaluate the final result from the SVE operation from December 2000
to January 2004, preparation of a contaminant mass estimate and a fate and
transport study, if appropriate. If favorable results are obtained, the EHD will
consider site closure.
308 Grant Street, N.
• The CUF concurs with the RP proposal to install an SVE system and
recommends the EHD to direct assessment of the feasibility of a groundwater
remediation technology such as IAS. The EHD agrees with these
recommendations and will also direct completion of the plume delineation.
5-Year Review Comment Letter 061908.doc
