Phase II Contaminant Delineation Investigation <br /> Central California Traction Company <br /> ' 1645 Cherokee Lane,Stockton, CA <br /> Hydro-Environmental Technologies, Inc <br /> 20 SUBSURFACE SOIL AND GRAB GROUND WATER INVESTIGATION <br /> ' HETI has been requested by the San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health <br /> Division (PHS/EHD), to conduct an additional investigation to determine the extent of soil and ground <br /> ' water contamination in the area of the former tank excavation at the subject site The approved work plan <br /> is Appendix A <br /> ' The field investigation and sample analysis was conducted in accordance with approved U S <br /> Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) methods, California Code of Regulations (CCR) Title 23 <br /> procedures, and guidelines from the PHD/EHD This subsurface investigation was conducted under the <br /> ' supervision of a California Registered Geologist (R G ) <br /> Figure I is a site location map, and Figure 2 is the DP soil boring and grab ground water sample locations <br /> map <br /> 2.1 Health and Safety Plan <br /> For this investigation, HETI personnel prepared a site specific health and safety (H&S) plan in <br /> accordance with the requirements of the USEPA 29 CFR 1910 120 and California Cal-OSHA GISO <br /> 5192 All on-site HETI and subcontractor personnel were required to adhere to the H&S plan and were <br /> required to have had 29 CFR 1910 120 tiaimng and its annual update The HETI project manager had the <br /> ' appropriate 29 CFR 1910 120 and California G1SO 5192 eight-hour supervisor's course <br /> 22 Utility Clearance <br /> ' Prior to any soil boring, digging, trenching, or subsurface investigation, HETI contacted Underground <br /> Service Alert (USA) to clear the areas for utilities or other unknown buried obstructions (USA No <br /> ' 0206949) <br /> 23 Direct Push Drilling <br /> ' Between June 8 and 11, 2004, HETI contracted with Tiansglobal Environmental Geochemistry (TEG) to <br /> bore through the surface soil using a Strataprobe direct push (DP) drilling rig to ground water Soil <br /> samples were collected at 5 0 foot intervals to 50 feet bsg (saturated soil is typically found at <br /> ' approximately 45 to 50 feet bsg) Soil samples were collected in polyethylene sleeves that were sealed <br /> with Teflon sheets before being capped and placed on ice Boring logs are included in Appendix B <br /> ' TEG then installed a temporary PVC casing with the screened interval from 40 to 50 feet bsg to collect a <br /> grab ground water sample One grab ground water sample was collected from each DP locations through <br /> a stainless steel bailer The samples were not filtered Ground water samples submitted for analysis were <br /> 4 <br />
