i
19 October 2012
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0312 .
r catalytic oxidizer at a minimum temperature 600 degrees fah"renheit for treatment and
L discharge.
Soil-vapor was sampled within a Tedlar sampling bag and carbon-charcoal tubes, and
vaporwas measured with an OVM equipped with a PID.An effluent vapor sample was also
collected and OVM measurements were collected to monitoring the destruction of the
hydrocarbons.
7.1. . EXTENDED HVSVE PILOT TEST PROCEDURES
The pilot test was initiated at 10:30 AM on 14 February 2011 and continued over a five-day
period, representing approximately 92.8 hours of SVE operation. The test was terminated
on 19 February 2011. Utilizing the above-referenced vacuum blower, an induced vacuum
potential was applied at the well-head of vapor well VW-1:Thereafter,the vacuum-induced
pressure reduction was monitored at 30-minute intervals from surrounding observation
points (VW-2, VW-3) which were pre-connected with air-tight well caps and Dwyer
Magnehelic vacuum gauges fitted to each observation well.
During the test, soil-vapor flow was monitored at the well head of VW-1 utilizing a Blue
White flow rotometer/totalizer. The flow rate was recorded -in SCFM. Organic vapor
concentrations were monitored for the presence of organic vapor using an ovm equipped
with a PID. The organic vapor concentrations and flow rates were measured at 30-minute
r intervals.
' L
7.2. EXTENDED HVSVE PILOT TEST SAMPLING AND ANALYSIS
A total of five soil-vapor samples were collected during the pilot test. Soil-vapor samples
were collected daily from a sample port near the outlet of the vacuum blower to measure
hydrocarbon concentrations in the extracted soil-vapor. The samples were collected in
Tedlar bags and charcoal-tubes (adsorbent). Samples were transported in a chilled
container under chain-of-custody.to MAI a CDPH-certified laboratory. Each sample was
analyzed within 72 hours for:
L TPH-g, BTEX, MTBE, TAME, DIPE, ETBE, TBA, EDB and 1,2-DCA in accordance
with EPA Methods 8015M and 82606..
• TPH-d in accordance with NIOSH 1550 for total extractable petroleum
hydrocarbons.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
C
Yrr`
