SOIL SAMPLING PIAN
AT THE
3437 NEWTON ROAD SITE
BACKGROUND:
Analytical results of five soil samples were obtained when underground
fuel tanks were removed by Thorpe Oil in January of 1989. Based on the
high concentrations of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (Gasoline and Diesel)
remediation of the site was requested by the Department of Environmental Health.
On Octube: 18, 1990, Environ, mental Science and Engineering, Inc.
i.mpiemented the remediation process through overexcavation of the site
and a soil boring in the building adjacent to the excavation with a
hollow-stem auger drilling rig. Based upon the soil boring and samples
taken during excavation tfie following was concluded:
- Soil beneath the building is clean,
' - Groundwater beneath site has probably not been affected, and
- Overexcavation was successful in removing soil containing
hydrocarbons.
} The approximate yards of material excavated at this site was 800 cubic yards
as determined by Environmental Science and Engineering, Inc..
SCOPE OF WORK:
Five s.il samples will be collected from the 800 cubic yards of soil on
site. Each sample will be pulled.from 3 to 4 feet in the stockpile by an
EPA certified laboratory for chemical analysis.
Three samples will be composites and two. will be discreet. All samples
will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH-G & TPH-D) and BTEX. i -
Bioassay analysis and the WET scan for metals will also be performed on all
samples collected.
Attachment I shows a simple overview of the Newton Road.site identifying
the stockpiles.and the soil sample locations..
REPORT OF FINDINGS:
Upon receipt of the laboratory results Delta Truck Sales, Inc. will determine
the appropriate remedial alternative.
-
f.
;T7-
NO
f :, t
