CA shown on Figure i - Location Map. The <br /> purpose; of the place, is to identify procedures for avoiding hazards which may be present <br /> on the site in the form of on-site chemical contamination as well as equipment hazards- <br /> The provisions of the plan apply to all Lam-ironmental Science&Engineering, Inc.(PSE.) <br /> employers,subcontractors,and visitors to the site as well as)Federal,State and local agency <br /> officials. All are eipcxted to exercise good judgment and follow the safety reeks and <br /> regulations established by their individual organizations as well as those rules and <br /> procedures outlined in this document- <br /> The scope of work outlined for the site characterisation program at this site includes the <br /> use of a hollow-stem auger drill rig to drill borings for soil sample collection iu the viciLdty <br /> of five underground storage tanks containing gasoline and diesel fuel, and the associated <br /> product lines and dispensers. Boring and sampling will also take place, :,eat'the site of <br /> former underground waste oil tanks and in a tlrarby builaiug where there may be hazardous <br /> materials in the soil. The undergroLmd fuel taclk5 have fdile d tank tests in the past,so some <br /> `. hydrocarbons rare expected in the sod near the tanks. `ihe overall objective of the work is <br /> �j to assess the extent of hydrocarbons and several other potentially hazardous materials(lead <br /> chlorinated orgaalcs, seutivolatile orgs-nics,and pletals) In the subsrfa= onsite. <br /> 20 PROTECT SAFETY PERSONNEL <br /> i Personnel responsible for the, project safety are the Project Safety Office., the Project <br /> Manager and the, Health and Safety Officers- <br /> The Health and Safety Officer is responsible for the delivering the plan,and all pertinent <br /> addenda to the Project Manager and for advising the Project Manager and Project Safety <br /> Cffflcer on health and safety clatters. He etas the awhority to monitor and audit compliance <br /> with the provisions of the plan,sulsptnd work or modify work for safety reasous,and dismiss <br /> individuals whose conduct on-site endangers the health and/or safety of others. <br /> The:Project Manager is responsible for the distribution of the plan to all field personnel <br /> and to an artt:torizedrepreseutative of each firm contracted to assist with the on-ate work. <br /> j Tile Project Mantiger s also reb-ponslble for implementing the plan and its addenda. <br /> Implemeat.ation. includes review of field personnel's compliance with medical and <br /> intormatlon re_Lp&etrleuts, training of field personnel involved with the project, provisions <br /> for appropriate safety equipment, and that the required safety docicments be submitted to <br /> the Project Safety Officer. The autbority of the Project Manger is the same as the Project <br /> Safety Officers.
