UP
' 19 January 2006
AGE-NC Project No 97-0312
off for approximately 15 minutes The small domestic well was out of service, the electrical service
has been disconnected and the distribution piping was truncated and capped
f,
' 22 COLLECTION OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
' The depth to water in the monitoring wells was re-measured following purging to assure a mimum
of 80%recharge prior to sampling Water samples were retrieved from each purged monitoring well
using a Waterra inertial pump To sample the large domestic well, a sampling port was opened at the
' well head and samples were collected from the port while the pump was operating Each sample was
transferred into three laboratory-supplied 40-milliliter(ml)EPA-approved volatile organic analysis
s (VOA)vials containing 0 5 ml 18%hydrochloric acid solution as a sample preservative,and into one
' 1-liter amber bottle without preservative
The samples were labeled, placed in a chilled container, and transported under chain of custody to
' Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories(CTEL), a California Department of Health Services(DHS)-
certified analytical laboratory, for analysis The samples were analyzed for '
•E a Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) and diesel (TPH-d) in
accordance with EPA Method 8015M, and
0 Benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene,and total xylenes(BTEX)and the fuel additives dl-isopropyl
ether(DIPE),ethyl tertiary-butyl ether(ETBE),methyl tertiary-butyl ether(MTBE),tertiary-
amyl methyl ether(TAME),tertiary-butanol (TBA), methanol, ethanol, 1,2-dibromoethane
' (EDB), 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA),trichloroethane (TCE) and tetrachloroethane(PCE)
in accordance with EPA Method 8260B
3.0. FINDINGS
' Ground water elevations were determined by subtracting the measured depths to ground water from
the surveyed casing elevations(Table 1) Ground water flow direction was determined by contouring
' the water elevations on a scaled site plan (Figure 3) Hydrocarbon-impact to ground water was
assessed by laboratory analysis and field observations
r
' 3 1 GROUND WATER ELEVATION AND GRADIENT
x
' Depths to ground water at the site ranged from 62 84 feet to 63 88 feet below the tops of the well
casings The ground water elevations in wells UST-2 through UST-6 ranged between 34 73 feet
IAdvanced GeoEnvnronmentsl,Inc
I '
