Quarterly Report - December 1998
CHEROKEE TRUCK STOP
3535 East Cherokee Road, Stockton, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mr Ellis Cecchini of Cecchim, Cecchini and Giovannoni, Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc (AGE) has prepared this report for field work performed at 3535 East
Cherokee Road, Stockton, California, during the fourth quarter of 1998 The scope of work this
quarter was to monitor the ground water well network on the site This report documents collection
and analysis of grab ground water samples and the results of ground water measurements
The site setting is illustrated in Figure 1 Structures, monitoring well and soil boring locations are
illustrated in Figure 2 The site history and a description of previous work performed at the site were
detailed in the Quarterly Report - March 1998 dated I I May 1998, prepared by AGE Data from
previous ground water monitoring events are included in the tables of this report
2.0. PROCEDURES
Four ground water monitoring wells were purged and sampled on 23 December 1998 Field work
was performed in accordance with San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental
Health Division (PHS-EHD) and Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
(CVRWQCB) guidelines for the investigation of underground storage tank (UST) sites
21 MONITORING WELL PURGE PROCEDURES
A Solinst water level meter was used to measure the depth to ground water in four monitoring wells
at the site and in three monitoring wells installed for an unrelated investigation north of the site,
relative to the tops of the well casings The ground water elevation in each well and hydraulic
gradient were determined from these data (Table 1)
After measuring ground water depths, monitoring wells UST-2 through UST-5 were purged using
a Grundfos submersible purge pump Approximately 15 gallons of water were removed from UST-2
through UST-4, approximately 10 gallons of water was removed from UST-5 (a minimum of three
well volumes for each well) Ground water was purged from near the top of the water column to
remove water trapped within the screened interval of the well casings Temperature, pH and
conductivity of purged water were measured at regular intervals during purging using an ICM model
52200 water analyzer The recorded held data and logs are included in Appendix A Purged water
was stored on-site in 55-gallon DOT-approved drums pending laboratory analyses
Advanced GcoEn%ironmental,Inc
