BUST Removal Deport - September 1997 <br /> CHEROKEE TRUCK STOP <br /> 3535 E. Cherokee Road, Stockton, California <br /> 1.0. INTRODUCTION <br /> In accordance with the request of Mr Ellis Cecchint of Cecchini, Cecchiru and Giovannoni, <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc (AGE) has prepared this report of field activities and results of <br /> analysis of soil samples collected in conjunction with the removal of underground storage tanks <br /> (USTs) at 3535 East Cherokee Road, Stockton, California Six USTs and associated piping and <br /> dispensers were removed on 18 September 1997 The location of the site is illustrated on Figure 1 - <br /> Location Map Structures, momtonng wells and former UST locations are illustrated on Figure 2 - <br /> Site Plan <br /> Field work was performed in accordance with San Joaquin County Public Health Services - <br /> Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) and Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control <br /> Board (CVRWQCB) guidelines for the investigation of underground storage tank (UST) sites <br /> Background information regarding the site was summarized in the Quarterly Report-March 1997, <br /> prepared by AGE <br /> 2.0 PROCEDURES <br /> 2 1 UST REMOVALS <br /> An application for the removal of six USTs was submitted to the PHS-EHD and approved on 11 <br /> June 1997 A fire permit was obtained from the San Joaquin County Community Development <br /> Department on 17 September 1997 Permits are included in Appendix A. <br /> The UST removals were performed by Stokley Construction The USTs and product piping were <br /> uncovered using an excavator and backhoe All USTs and their connecting piping were triple rinsed <br /> with a steam cleaner The nnsate was removed from the USTs by Nor Cal Oil,using a vacuum truck <br /> and hauled to Amenclean Inc in Silver Springs, Nevada for disposal A certificate of triple rinse <br /> p p <br /> and the hazardous waste manifest are included in Appendix A Approximately 950 pounds of dry <br /> ice was added to the USTs (minimum of 15 pounds per 1,000 gallon capacity) The percent oxygen <br /> and lower explosive limit (LEL) were measured in each UST prior to removal, to meet fire code <br /> standards All USTs were examined for holes and condition upon removal The removed USTs were <br /> transported by West Coast Equipment to Turlock for recycling as scrap metal <br /> During removal of the piping and dispensers, additional abandoned piping was discovered at the site <br /> and was removed The locations of all discovered product piping runs are illustrated on Figure 2 <br /> A6anced Geo£nvironmental,Inc <br />
