Cecchuu, Cecchuu and G ovannau, Fueling Island <br /> 1.2 Work Peirffoirmed Second Quainter 096 <br /> The following tasks were performed during the Second Quarter of 1996 at the fuel island <br /> area <br /> o Installation of monitoring well UST-5 and vapor well VP-1, and <br /> o Ground water monitoring and sampling <br /> 2.0 RnstaRzfloun off New Monftorkg Wi eRN <br /> To further monitor hydrocarbons in ground water beneath the fuel island, ESE proposed <br /> in a workplan dated April 17, 1996, installation of a ground water monitoring well UST- <br /> 5 and soil vapor well VP-1 An addendum to the workplan dated May 6, 1996 was <br /> prepared to document changes in the well design to a nested configuration per Mr <br /> Michael Infurna of the SJCEHD The permit for monitoring well installation approved on <br /> May 31, 1996 <br /> 2.1 ]ExpRoratoiry IIDirflUng <br /> aAs described in the work plan, a mobile drill rig equipped with 12-inch hollow-stem <br /> auger was used to make the exploratory borehole. Mork commenced on June 13, 1996 <br /> and was completed that day Soil samples were collected at five foot intervals using a <br /> modified split-spoon sampler Soils were described using the Unified Soil Classification <br /> System (ASTM 2488-84). The exploratory boring UST-5 was located on the east side of <br /> the fuel island between UST-1 and the gasoline underground storage tank (UST) <br /> were ea labeled and laced in an ice <br /> Soil samples selected for laboratory analyses e e pped, p <br /> chest under chain-of=custody for transport to a California Certified Laboratory. Soils <br /> were tested for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Diesel (TPH-D) using EPA method <br /> 3553/8015 modified, for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline (TPH-G) using EPA <br /> method 503018015, and for benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene, and xylenes (BTEX) using <br /> EPA method 5030/8020 The findings of these tests are presented in Section 4 2 of this <br /> report <br /> !+ Envnronwntal Science&Engineering, Inc <br /> 1692540012QM96 RPT 2 <br />
