3.0 FINDINGS
3 1 FIELD OBSERVATIONS
On September 14, 1994, ESE observed that the well box for well SI-1 was broken and in need
of repair The remaining ground water monitoring wells, SI-2, SI-3, and UST-1 appeared in
good condition ESE noted that the interior of well UST-1 was clean and free of surface
leakage
3 2 GROUND WATER MONITORING
The ground water levels in wells SI-1, SI-2, SI-3, UST-1 and the small and large water supply
wells on September 14, 1994 were approximately 78 feet below the top of casing No free
product was observed in any of the wells Table 1 tabulates water level measurements and
elevation calculations for these wells, and Figure 2 shows these data in map view
The ground water flow direction beneath the site appears to be toward the east-northeast in the
area of the fueling island and to the north in the northern portion of the site The northerly
component of ground water flow at the site may be due to the "large well" which was noted to
be pumping at the time of measurement The calculated ground water gradient ranged from
approximately 26 to 33 feet per mile Both the small and large wells are active pumping wells
and likely influence the local direction of ground water flow under the site
Analytical results for well UST-1 are shown on Table 2 - Analytical Results of Ground Water
Samples and on the enclosed laboratory certificates of analysis (Appendix A) Ground water
from UST-1 contained 330 micrograms per liter (µg/1), or parts per billion (ppb) of TPH as
gasoline Benzene and toluene were reported as nondetectable, however, toluene was found at
a concentration of 1 4, and total xylenes at a concentration of 3 6 µg11 TPH as diesel was
reported at a concentration of 21 milligrams per Liter (mg/L) or parts per million Analysis of
the trip blank accompanying the UST-1 sample reported nondetectable concentrations of BTEX
analytes
F 16M400\3gm94 rpt 3 Envuonmenzaf Science do Engineering Inc
