CHEROKEE RGAIID, STOCK'I ON, CAILIIIFORNM
Dear Mr. Cecchini-
The following report documents Second Quarter 1993 Ground dater Monitoring for the
fueling island area of the subject site. One well, designated UST-1, is located in the fueling
island (Figure 1 - Site Plan). Well UST-1 has had problems with leakage of fuel from the
surface and has been repaired twice within the last year. The latest repair was made in
® March 1993 when ESE placed a second cover and re-fitted the water tight seal on the well.
The well has been in a quarterly monitoring program since October of 1992. The first
quarter 1992 monitoring was delayed due to repairs needed on the well.
Mork Performed This Ouarter
On April 23, 1993, Environmental Science &L Engineering, Inc. (ESE) staff, in the presence
of Mr. Michael Infurna of San Joaquin County Department of Environmental Health
q ty P
cleaned the well of debris using a pressure washer fitted with hosing n
(County), g p g a d lowered
down the entire length of the well Approximately 40 gallons of water was used to clean the
well by this method The source of the water for cleaning was the facility drinking water
supply (hose bib). Approximately 40 gallons of fluids which entered the well during the
cleaning process were evacuated by hand bailing on April 23 All fluids evacuated from the
well were stored in drums and remain on site.
On April 28, 1993, ESE measured water levels and purged and sampled well UST -1. ESE
first measured the static water level in the well using an electronic water level sounder.
Then, using a electric submersible pump, approximately 150 gallons of water were purged
from the well. During the purging process, pH, temperature and conductivity were
measured. The well purging was considered complete when a minimum of three well
volumes were evacuated, the final field measurements of pH, temp and conditions were
within 15 percent of the prior measurement and the purged water was clear The ground
water sample was then collected from well UST-1 by lowering a new (precleaned)
O disposable polyethylene bailer in the well using new, disposable nylon cord The filled bailer
4090 Neltion Avenin Suite] Cona.ord CA 94520 Phone(5711)685 4093 Far(510)6b5-5321
