1
6 July 1999
AGE-NC Project No. 99-0616
' lying alluvial plain extending from the Tehachapi Mountains in the south to the Klamath Mountains
in the north. The western and eastern boundaries of this province are comprised of the California
Coast Range and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, respectively.
' Based on a General Soil Map from the San Joaquin County Soil Survey, published by the United
States Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service in 1992, soil at the site area belongs to
the Jacktone-Hallenbeck-Stockton (JHS) association. JHS soils are located within basins, and
generally consist of moderate to poorly drained fine textured soils. JHS soils generally formed from
mixed rock sources.
' 2.3. GROUND WATER DEPTH AND GRADIENT
Based upon the San Joaquin County Flood Control Map Lines of Equal Depth in Water Wells -
' 1996, ground water depth in the area of the site is approximately 70 to 80 feet below surface grade.
The regional ground water flow direction in the area of the site is toward the south-southeast.
However, it is likely that flow direction at the site is influenced by agricultural pumping and may
' vary seasonally.
' 3.0. PROCEDURES
This investigation was performed in accordance with the guidelines of both the San Joaquin County
' Public Health Services - Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) and the Central Valley
Regional Water Quality Control Board for the investigation of underground storage tank(UST) sites,
' and was conducted as proposed in AGE's Preliminary Site Assessment Work Plan dated 7 June 1999
as approved by the PHS-EHD.
' 3.1. SCOPE OF WORK
' The scope of work for this preliminary site assessment included the advancement of one soil boring
to collect soil samples for laboratory analysis to assess the vertical extent of hydrocarbon-impacted
soil if encountered. Following refusal of the geoprobe at 10 feet, an 8-inch auger boring was drilled
' one foot north of the probe boring to a depth of 30 feet bsg. Soil samples were collected for analysis
and description. This work is intended to define the vertical extent of hydrocarbon-impacted soil,
' if any, in the former gasoline farm tank location.
' Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
1
