WORK PLAN FOR
GRID RANDOM SAMPLING
FOR
DELTA TRUCK SALES, INC.
3655 E. CHEROKEE ROAD
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
HISTORY:
On April 28, 1988, Delta Truck Sales, Inc. , had a diesel fuel spill on
its property by a customer of Delta Fleet. The Fire Department was on
the scene and accordingly the proper government agencies notified of the
incident.
In May, 1988, samples of the contaminated soil were taken and the process
was overseen by Kasey Foley, a staff member of Environmental Health.
The samples were tested by Canonie Environmental (See Attachment "C" -
Lab Results).
In June, 1988, authorization to aerate approximately three (3) yards of
contaminated soil was given by the San Joaquin County Air Pollution Control
District (Mr. Seyed Sadredin, M.E. , gave the authorization).
AERATION PROCESS OF CONTAMINATED SOIL:
The contaminated soil was spread out thinly on to a sheet of plastic
(approximately 5' wide by 12' in length). It was necessary to move the
soil from its original spill site to its present location. The soil was
moved under authority of the San Joaquin County Air Pollution Control
District as it created a safety hazard for trucks moving in and out of
Delta Truck Sales, Inc. property. (Attachment "B" shows the approximate
location of the original spill and where the soil was moved to. )
As part of the aeration process we have also made certain that the soil
be turned over at least weekly.
RECOMMENDATION FOR DISPOSAL OF SOIL:
Recommend application of the Grid Random Sampling Method for sample selection.
Two samples will be collected by Canonie Environmental . It is requested
that an Environmental Health staff member be present for the sample collection,
as it is my understanding that it is requirement set by Environmental Health
for a procedure such as this. (Refer to Attachment "A" for soil sample
delineation.)
