f
Environmental
Science &
® Engineering,Inc.
R CILWPV ComrynY
RECEIVE
July 11, 1990 J U L 1 6 1990
Project No. 02-531-002 ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
PERMIT/SERVICES
Ms. Mary Raygoza
Environmental Coordinator
Delta Truck Sales
P.O. Box 8068
Stockton, CA 94208
SUBJECT: Addendum to"Report of Stockpiled Soil and Excavation Activities of Former
Surface Impoundment at Delta Truck Sales, 3535 Cherokee Road, Stockton,
San Joaquin County, California"
Dear Mary:
This letter is to transmit additional sample analysis results as an addendum to the subject
report.
Table 5 - Soluble Metals Analyses of Excavation Floor Soil Samples and Blue Sample -
presents results of soluble lead analyses on soil samples F1 through F4, obtained from the
floor of the excavation (see Figure 3 in the subject report), and the results of analyses for
soluble concentrations of the CAM 17 metals in the solid sample of blue material that
looked like dried paint (Blue-1). The levels of soluble lead in the excavation floor samples
ranged from 0.010 to 0.016 mg/L, well below the Soluble Threshold Limit Concentration
(STLC) level of 5.0 mg/L established by California. Soluble lead was detected at a
concentration of 11 mg/L in the Blue-1 sample. Soluble concentrations of the other metals
were below STLC levels except for cadmium, which was detected at 1.0 mg/L, the same as
its STLC level. Thallium was detected at 5.6 mg/L, relatively close to the STLC value of
7.0 mg/L
These results imply that the floor of the excavation does not contain high levels of soluble
lead and it may represent the vertical extent of lead in the subsurface below the former
surface impoundment. The results also indicate that the blue material, which is found
scattered throughout the site, may be one of the sources of soluble lead and possibly other
metals.
597 Center Avenue,Suite 350 Martinez,CA 94553 Phone(415)372-3637 Fax(415)372-3790
