Chrisman Rd.
Tracy, CA 95376
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division (PHS/EHD) has reviewed the "Work Plan For Subsurface
Investigation" dated January 9, 1995, prepared by Professional
Service Industries, Inc . and the information in our underground
storage tank (UST) file for the above referenced site.
Per a telephone conversation with your consultant the monitoring
wells will be constructed according to the written description not
the diagram shown in the work plan. Since depth to groundwater is
shallow at this site (10 feet or less) the amount of screened
casing above groundwater will be adjusted to allow for placement of
sand pack, bentonite seal, and cement grout below grade . A minimum
of 12 hours between grouting of the well and developing the well is
required. Soil samples obtained through the split spoon sampler
will be used to classify soil type and screened with equipment that
measures volatile organics . Also a statement of qualifications
will be submitted to PHS/EHD which includes the name of the
California registered geologist supervising this work and resultant
report .
On November 4, 1994, contaminated soil was removed from the former
tank pit area. Please provide PHS/EHD with diagrams and
information on the amount of soil removed from the sidewalls and
bottom of the tank pit area. Also provide receipts for the
transport and disposal of the contaminated soil and the material
used to fill the tank pit area. Unfortunately no soil samples were
collected and analyzed to verify all contaminated soil had been
removed. The soil sample analyzed at the time the UST was removed
indicated low levels of benzene, ethlybenzene, and toluene . Some
contaminated soil remains to the north of the former tank area and
will be investigated with soil samples obtained from a slant
boring.
A well exists at this site about 120 feet southwest of the former
tank area. Other businesses in the area may have wells also.
Prior to deciding the placement of the three monitoring wells, the
following information should be submitted to PHS/EHD:
vy
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
