I have also
enclosed check number 410811 for$248,which covers the $89 application fee and two
hours of oversight time. Unfortunately, I requested this check based upon the previous fee
schedule of$53/hr for review instead of the$78/hr fee effective 11/1/92. I will request a
second check and send it to you as soon as possible.
The activities planned Remedial Investigation at DDRW Tracy include drilling 242 soil
borings, including 27 Hydropunch locations, and installing 24 monitoring wells at 66 sites
on the depot property. The soil borings will be drilled to first water at 20 to 30 feet below
ground surface. The borings will be abandoned with neat cement ground tremied from
the bottom of the hole. Most of the monitoring wells will be installed to 8 feet below first
water. Four monitoring wells will be screened in the Middle and Lower
Hydrostratigraphic Horizons of the Upper Tulare Aquifer. Two wells will be installed to
approximately 90 feet with the other two wells terminating at approximately 140 feet.
Once completed, a copy of the Water Well Driller's Log will be submitted to the State of
California and SJCPHS.
The shallow monitoring wells and the soil borings will be installed using hollow-stem
auger drilling rigs supplied by Gregg Drilling of Pacheco, California. The deeper wells
will be drilled and installed using a air rotary casing hammer drilling rig supplied by Water
Development of Woodland, California. Both drilling contractors have told me that their
license and insurance information is currently on file with San Joaquin County.
As we discussed this afternoon, copies of the drilling specifications and the Health and
Safety Plan (HSP) for the Remedial Investigation are contained in the enclosed binder.
The HSP is Appendix D of the comprehensive workplan. The original document was
prepared by Woodward-Clyde Consultants with amendments prepared by Montgomery
Watson.
365 Lennon Lane Tel:510 975 3400 Serving the World's Environmental Needs
Walnut Creek,California Fax:510 975 3412
94598
