Box 2009 DEC 191988
Stockton, CA 95201 EIV\%iROf'^✓,=;dA I!eALTH
Dear Diane: FERh11T1SERVICES
Per our phone conversation and at the request of Taber
Consultants, I have reviewed their proposal to drill a series of
soil borings at Defense Depot Tracy. In my review I have taken
into account your concern that Taber's drilling activities might
interfere with the Depot's environmental restoration program.
Based on the information provided, I did not see any indication
of interference with the Depot's program. I can therefore
recommend that the County issue the required permits. I have
also contacted Gary Reents of the California Regional Water
Quality Control Board and received his concurrence with this
recommendation.
It is my understanding that these borings are for the purpose of
deriving the soil's structural properties. No chemical analysis
will be conducted. The agencies major concern would be that
Taber Consultants follow all Federal, State, and County
regulation with regards to safety and proper bore hole
abandonment. After our conversation and a subsequent
conversation with Wess Harris of the Depot, I am satisfied that
these concerns will be met.
Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention. If I can be
of any further assistance to you, please call me at (916)
924-2154.
Sincerely,
,40
Jim Pinasco
Waste Management Engineer
Site Mitigation Unit
cc: (See Page 2)
