Box 960001
Stockton, California 95296-0250
FARMING OPERATIONS ADJACENT TO THE DEFENSE DISTRIBUTION REGION
WEST (DDRW) , TRACY SITE
Dear Mr. McIlvoy:
The Department of Toxic Substances Control (Department) has
received your letter of January 25, 1994 requesting a written
position regarding farming operations, including flood
irrigation, on the property adjacent to your operational
facility. As the property is titled to DDRW Tracy, the
Department considers it Tracy's decision as to the nature of
activities to be conducted. Therefore, we raise no objections to
the continued farming of the property, provided that said
operations do not interfere with the cleanup activities being
conducted.
To insure that there is no interference with the cleanup
activities, the Department wishes to place the following caveats
on any resurgence in farming activities. First, DDRW Tracy must
insure that the proposed irrigation of the land does not
adversely affect the contamination plume. Secondly, that farming
activities do not inhibit any action required for the cleanup,
including site access or daily operations.
Should you have any questions, please contact
` Mr. Jim Pinasco of my staff at (916) 255-3719 .
Sincerely,
Eric Ho g P.E.
Chief
Federal Facilities Unit
Office of Military Facilities
cc: See next page.
rn.a
INS.024l4B-
CJ
Rvad m R-gdM Rte-
