Box 960001 <br /> Stockton, CA 95296-0710 <br /> SUBSISTENCE WAREHOUSE SOIL, DEFENCE DISTRIBUTION REGION WEST (DDRW), TRACY, <br /> SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY <br /> On 26 January 1993, the Board met with DDRW, Tracy to discuss the stockpiled <br /> soil excavated from the foundation for the Subsistence Warehouse. The purpose <br /> of the meeting was to present the results of two different methods used for <br /> evaluating the threat to water quality from the stockpiled soil , and to decide <br /> on an appropriate method of disposal based on these evaluations. The results <br /> of the stockpiled soil evaluations are included in the enclosed memorandum. <br /> Based on our evaluation, DDRW, Tracy agreed that the stockpiled soil presents <br /> a threat to groundwater. Therefore, as a one-time removal action, DDRW, Tracy <br /> decided that the stockpiled soil should be removed and disposed of in a <br /> Class II landfill . This remedy would protect water quality and satisfy State <br /> requirements for land disposal of the contaminated soil . The basis for this <br /> removal action is not intended to establish site-wide cleanup levels for <br /> existing Solid Waste Management Units (SWMUs) .
