WASTE DISCHARGE REQUIREMENTS _6_ <br /> GENERAL ORDER FOR DISCHARGE OF <br /> GROUND WATER FROM CLEANUP OF <br /> PETROLEUM FUEL POLLUTION <br /> TO SURFACE WATERS <br /> 2. Creation of pollution, contamination, or nuisance, as defined by <br /> Section 13050 of the California Water Code, is prohibited. <br /> 3. A discharge in excess of 100,000 gpd is prohibited. <br /> C. Effluent Limitations <br /> 1 . The discharge of an effluent in excess of the following limits is <br /> prohibited: <br /> 30-Day Daily <br /> Constituents Units Median Maximum <br /> Total Petroleum µg/l <50 100 <br /> Hydrocarbons <br /> (3050 GCFID) <br /> Benzene µg/l <0.5 5* <br /> Ethyl Benzene /g/l <0.5 5* <br /> Toluene µg/1 <0.5 5* <br /> Xylene µg/1 <0.5 5* <br /> Lead µg/l 5 50 <br /> * The sum of the concentrations of benzene, ethyl benzene, toluene, <br /> and xylene in any single sample shall not exceed 5 mg/1 . <br /> 2. The discharge shall not have a pH of less than 6.5 nor greater than <br /> 8.5. <br /> 3. There shall be no acute toxicity in undiluted effluent. Acute <br /> toxicity is defined as less than ninety percent survival , fifty <br /> percent of the time, and less than seventy percent survival , ten <br /> percent of the time, of standard test organisms in undiluted <br /> effluent in 96-hour static or continuous-flow tests. <br /> D. Solids Disposal : <br /> 1. Collected screenings, sludges, and other solids removed from liquid <br /> wastes or used to treat liquid wastes shall be disposed of in a <br /> manner that is consistent with Chapter 15, Division 3, Title 23, of <br /> the CCR and approved by the Executive Officer. <br /> 2. Any proposed change in solids use or disposal practice shall be <br /> reported to the Executive Officer and EPA Regional Administrator at <br /> least 90 days in advance of the change. <br />
