Mr. Abel W. Haines, P.E. , Director
Page Two
2 . The list of chemicals of concern will not be expanded for
Operable Unit No. 1. Any supplementary expansion of the
chemicals of concern will be accomplished in the site-wide
investigation.
The agreements reached during the November 19 , 1992,
tele-conference are satisfactory to the Department.
Additionally, we are satisfied with DDRW Tracy's responses to our
written comments of August, 1992 . However, a remaining concern
of the Department is the development of a complete ARARs list.
Changes in Table 2 . 2-4 removed the California Environmental
Quality Act (Public Resources Code, Division 13) and Division 20,
Chapter 6. 8 of the Health and Safety Code. The Department
requires that these statutes be re-incorporated into Table 2 . 2-4
prior to our granting approval of the Draft Final FS and PP for
Operable Unit No. 1.
Finally, we have received a letter dated November 30, 1992 ,
requesting an additional 10 day extension for finalizing the FS
and PP. The request was made to incorporate new language
necessary to meet regulatory concerns. The Department is in
favor of granting the extension.
Should you have any questions regarding the subjects of this
letter, please contact me at (916) 255-3719.
Sincerely,
i __-J
Jim Pinasco
Waste Management Engineer
Site Mitigation Branch
cc: Mr. Michael Work
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
Region IX (H-9-1) _
75 Hawthorne Street
San Francisco, California 94105
Mr. Marshall Cloud
Defense Distribution Region West, Tracy Site
Office of Environmental Protection
25600 South Chrisman Road
Tracy, California 95376-5000
