Our comments are attached.
EPA's major concerns include (1) the extent and routes of
migration both horizontally and vertically in the groundwater,
(2) the level of metals (specifically lead) in the groundwater,
(3) the lack of an established background level for the metals,
and (4) the method detection limits that sometimes do not meet
the stringent State of California and EPA standards. Per our
meeting of 12/16/91, EPA recommends that DDRW-Tracy continue in
its efferts to establish acceptable background concentrations for
inclusion in the Draft Remedial Investigation (RI) Report for
Operable Unit No. 1 that is due on February 16, 1992 .
Please contact me at (415) 744-2392 should you have any
questions.
Sincerely,
C44AtJI4..C,r (-4J
Michael Work
Remedial Project Manager
Federal Enforcement Section I (H-9-1)
Federal Facilities Enforcement Branch
Office of Superfund
Attachment
cc: (see distribution list)
Printed on Recycled Paper
