Burkett, Ltc <br /> Director of Installation Services <br /> Defense Depot Tracy <br /> 25600 South Chrisman Rd. <br /> Tracy, CA 95367-5000 <br /> Dear Colonel Burkett: <br /> RI/FS ENGINEERING REPORT, DEFENSE DEPOT TRACY <br /> Enclosed are the comments of the Department of Health <br /> Services' (Department) regarding the draft RI/FS Engineering <br /> Report prepared by Woodward Clyde Consultants (WCC) . <br /> The Departments' primary concern with the draft report is in <br /> area of hydrogeologic characterization. Our specific concerns <br /> are the reliability of certain well logs, the detail presented _ <br /> in the subsurface geology, and the characterization of water <br /> bearing units. The enclosed memo also includes <br /> recommendations for additional work necessary to address our <br /> concerns. <br /> Through discussions with your staff and WCC it is our <br /> understanding that the investigation of hydrogeologic <br /> conditions is continuing. New data will be incorporated into <br /> a supplementary report for regulatory review. Items discussed <br /> for inclusion are reevaluated well logs, new cross-sections, <br /> and iso-pack maps delineating contaminant concentrations. <br /> This supplementary report will be reviewed and commented upon <br /> its arrival. <br /> Comments on the endangerment assessment are being prepared by <br /> the Departments' headquarters staff. Those comments will be <br /> forwarded at a future date. <br /> We look forward to working closely with your staff to complete <br /> the RI and move towards remedial measures. Should you have <br />
