CA4971520834
Defense Depot Tracy, California (DDTC) is a supply storage
facility for the Defense Logistics Agency, a part of the
Department of Defense. DDTC intends to close two underground
waste storage tanks.
One tank to be removed is an underground 250 gallon carbon steel
tank located at Building 247 . The tank was previously used to
collect laboratory waste consisting of lubricating oils, fuels,
and solvents. The other tank to be removed is located at
warehouse 28. It is a 500 gallon monolithic concrete tank with
an epoxy liner. The tank was previously used to collect waste
flammable liquids, corrosives, oxidizers and pesticides. The
rr tank was emptied, cleaned, filled with sand and the openings
plugged with concrete prior to November, 1979 .
The tank at Building 247 will be closed under 40 CFR Part 264 and
California Code of Regulations (CCR) Title 22 , Article 23 .
Because the tank located at Warehouse 28 was cleaned and removed
from service prior to November 19, 1980 it will only be closed
under CCR Title 22 , Article 23 .
The Closure Plan proposes to remove both of these tanks. The
tank at Building 247 will be triple rinsed, cut up, and disposed '
of as scrap. The tank at warehouse 28 will be disposed of at a
Class I landfill . Soil underlying and surrounding the tanks will
be tested for possible contamination.
